Life Skills and Wellness: Designing Life with Intention This 8 part series has been designed to guide, support and educate. Programs provide practical tools and a focus on function. Content draws from “real world” scenarios and introduces the skills needed to maximize personal and workplace potential. Although delivered in a small group format, the sessions focus on interactive learning and skills practice, rather than group dynamics.
Each 90-minute program provides the human relations resources, insights, and practice needed to generate positive change. Materials and self-assessment instruments are included and guide independent reflection and opportunities to try new skills. With no more than 8 participants in each group, the environment encourages open discussion of personal, family, and workplace challenges. The week between sessions allows opportunity to complete homework, gather data, and test results. Program Topics - The basics of wellness: mind body relationships.
- Setting realistic options: planning for positive change. Self-esteem; self-confidence. Defining “My Brand.”
- Self-management tools: active relaxation, distraction, self-hypnosis and visualization
- Improving sleep; active relaxation tools.
- Dealing with difficult people. Understanding myself and others.
- More than stress management: What’s under our control? Action plans and SMART goals.
- Automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions, and changing our “screen saver.”
- Depression, anxiety, and “down” time: understanding the difference. Non-pharmacological approaches to a mood management.
- Where happiness lies: new thoughts on “happily even after.”
- Focus on feelings: assertiveness, setting boundaries, collaborative approaches to resolving differences.
