Exploring the World, Discovering Ourselves:
Personal coaching, relationship building and
environmental education in Southwest Africa (Namibia)

Even brief exposure to a unique culture can build self-confidence and enhance acceptance of individual rights, beliefs, and differences. Experiential travel fosters flexibility, initiative, and resourcefulness—key components in critical thinking. International experiences help us gain a better understanding of our capacities, our biases, and our place in the world.

Why Namibia?

  • One of the last unspoiled areas on the planet
  • Modern, well-developed facilities and infrastructure
  • Abundant wildlife (Big 5)
  • Safe: Low crime rate, politically stable, malaria free travel zones
  • Exemplar community development, sustainable wildlife and conservation programs
  • Exceptional game lodges, dining, and safari camps

Removed from routine and distraction, the experience also promotes an inner journey for individuals and couples. Your coach helps you tap strengths and identify values defining your life course.

Exploration begins before departure. Two sessions with your assigned coach will help target personal, professional, and relationship goals, translating intentions to measurable outcomes during and post-travel. The process will be assisted by assessments and assignments supporting your specific objectives.

A half day pre-departure program encompasses cross cultural skills, a health and safety briefing, and destination overview.

Along the way, licensed guides will explain the behaviours and habits of local wildlife and point out the region’s unique plant life and landforms.

The Canadian biologist draws parallels to habitat, ecosystems and ecological challenges in North America, highlighting the global impact of environmental change.

Beyond the personal growth potential, the schedule respects needs for rest and recovery and encourages development of writing, photography, and sketching interests.

Evening discussions facilitated by the psychologist/coach focus on lessons learned and the individual perspectives on each day’s events.

After return, 2 final coaching sessions align the international experience with professional challenges and personal realities. This step helps ensure gains are not lost in the process of re-entry to “real world” challenges and routine.
